Specialized Braces in Still Water

You may be surprised to know that traditional braces are still the most frequent choice for correcting teeth still today. They are more comfortable and lighter than in the past, but they continue to provide the most successful results.

Modern technology, of course, has brought about many specialized braces that are utilized in Still Water. These braces provide reduced treatment time, are more comfortable because of less tension on teeth and some are nearly invisible. Two of the most commonly chosen are our practice are Self-Ligating Braces and Invisalign.

What Are Braces Used For?

Braces are orthodontic appliances used to correct misaligned teeth and guide them into their proper position. They can be made of various materials today such as metal, ceramic or plastic. At the completion of treatment, the person will not only have straight, beautiful teeth but a bright smile and better oral health.

There are various types of problems that braces can be used for, but each type uses a similar method of correcting and shifting teeth. A consistent, moderate pressure relocates your teeth into a better position in the mouth, based on the individual’s requirement. All braces require careful monitoring, but some provide a faster, reduced treatment time and fewer visits to our office. The length of treatment varies based on the type and severity of the problem, but the average is approximately one to three years. At the completion of treatment, a retainer is generally used to ensure that teeth stay in their corrected position.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign treatment is a comfortable, flexible alternative to conventional braces and is requested frequently by our patients. Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners that are custom-made for each patient. The aligners should be worn for about twenty hours per day for a period of around two weeks, at which time they are changed out for a new set.

Should I Opt For Self-Ligating Braces?

The determination of whether Self-Ligating Braces are appropriate for you will be based on the completion of a comprehensive exam by our highly trained orthodontists here in Still Water, followed by an open discussion with you. These braces are an excellent choice to use in place of traditional braces. One of the greatest benefits of Self-Ligating Braces is that no elastics or bands are used. They also require decreased treatment time and put less tension on teeth, making them more comfortable.
